Gameplay & Objectives
The Hero: You control a soldier named Super Joe, who is dropped into a jungle via helicopter to single-handedly take on an entire "Evil Empire Army".
Combat: Joe is armed with an assault rifle with unlimited ammunition that can fire in eight directions. He also carries a limited supply of grenades, which can be replenished by saving prisoners or finding them in stages.
Level Structure: The game is divided into vertical scrolling stages where you move from bottom to top. Each level ends with a "fortress" encounter where you must defeat waves of enemy soldiers streaming from a gate.
Secret Features: Unlike the original arcade version, the NES port includes hidden underground bunkers and ladders that can be revealed by throwing grenades in specific spots. These bunkers contain power-ups like bulletproof vests, radios, and extra grenades.
